I've never really moaned about the breakfast clubs before because they're usually fantastic for what they are, but what on earth happened this morning? Did someone forget that there might be one or two people turning up today and just not bother with organisation? It was dreadful. Cars parked absolutely everywhere in a total mishmash, parked on all the verges and emergency gates. No-one directing traffic. Huge delays to get in. Just a total mess.

Indeed, it wasn't good. Though I guess it may have something to do with the dreadful weather of the last few weeks, the usual field used for parking wouldn't have been a good choice. But yeah it was pretty chaotic, but not sure what else they could have done.

Props go to the marshall who managed to find me a spot near the action, as I'm not massivly mobile at the moment (bad knee), was much appreciated.

Only other comment, wwas the extortionate price of my Burger £9.70!!!! For a burger with one slice of cheese and a rasher of bacon! They basically charged £3.00 just for the bacon, even the guy serving me looked embarassed when his boss just said that's the price. I know it's gonne be on the steep side, but that's just taking the michael!!!

Have to admit, I rode north out of Goodwood and couldn't believe the way cars were simply abandoned by the side of the road all the way up as far as Goodwood House.
To be fair to the organisers, I think the problem was the fact that on their busiest day of the year their main car park (ie the field) was out of use presumably due to being waterlogged. This meant everyone had to go through the main entrance. As a result the whole thing just ground to a halt as those arriving tried to get past those leaving. Glad I got there early!

Agreed - don't bother to go anymore, and I was one of it's biggest fans.

Agreed, far to many Daewoo Matiz and Merivas for my liking. It seems every man and his dog go now as it is a free day out, even if they have no interest in cars. Annoying

I think it was due to the lack of availability of the field as normal

I arrived at 7.40 and was q'ing then

It was amazing how many we're still trying to get there at 9.45ish when I left

I got there at 7.30, parked straight away, turned in to an icicle by 8.30, left about 10 and have just thawed out.....

Hmm.

I arrived at around 8.45, but used a sneaky back way in which meant I queued for 5 minutes only. It was clear that they were in trouble when I found 'ordinary' cars being directed through the crowds along the main straight.

I have every sympathy with the Goodwood organisers though, the 'car park of shame' was out of action because of the rain and their only alternative would have been to cancel.

Kudos to the bloke in the filthy F40!

I arrived about 9:15, the queue from Midhurst direction was well before the golf club. As I had the roof down I just drove past the queue to the nearest turning area, turned around and went home.

At the rate that queue was moving it would have taken over half an hour to get in.

Whilst I completely understand the loss of their usual field car park don't they have a really large Tarmaced car park that would accommodate hundreds if not thousands of cars? Admittedly it's a strange shape being in a round circle (ish) but at least they could have sent people one way in one way out? And it's not like the rain crept up on them??

Sneaky way in for me and straight onto the gravel.

Their biggest problem today was reverse parallel/angled parking around the circuit???? Please use your common sense guys, park people at an angle forwards. It is MUCH quicker and also safer when people leave gradually when they get fed up.

Was a good turnout today with a lot of nice cars even with the weather.

As for the burgers, it is the only way Lord March can cover any of his costs which no doubt are reasonable for the day with all the marshals, first cover, insurance etc.

You could just get a fry up on the way in/out. Was nice today that there was hardly any queues at eh stands!

I got there at 8.05 and queued for about 30 mins - Cars coming from the west were directed past the entrance and down to the roundabout and then back again, which added 15 minutes to the queuing time, rather than just driving in at the entrance, which made no sense. The event just isn't worth it unless you have good weather. Please open the gates earlier!!! confused

Can't use any more of the circuit to park cars, due to the aerodrome being in use & the various CAA regulations that come with it.

And the rest... We got to the back of the 'Midhurst' queue at about 8:20 and drove through the gates at 9:30. Parking was just an absolute shambles today, unfortunately.

I am not normally one to winge about a free event, especially the Breakfast Club but when you have a Vectra on L Plates on the grid and a Ferrari FF on the verge up the road its is a bit of a lost cause!!

Unfortunately, I didn't have a sneaky route in and thought that getting down there at 8.30am wouldn't be a problem. What a mistake.

What irritated me is that I rang the circuit after I'd been queuing for about 15-20 mins to ask what the situation was as quite a few people were starting to turn round. Despite asking, I wasn't told that the normal parking had been rendered useless and the person just said that it was very busy due to the bank holiday weekend which is only part of the story. I was also told that from where I was, it would take 20-30 mins to get in. Try 1.5 hours. That said, my section of the queue featured a GT3RS4, GT40, MP412C, 599GTO, a Micra(!) so it wasn't your usual queue out the supermarket car park. smile

I gave up when I realised that they were sending the traffic down and back up the roundabout. A few well placed marshals at turning points could have cut down the queues and just ensuring that people on the phones knew what was going on would have been a help. I totally appreciate that conditions are not their fault but I'd be more than happy to pay to get in if it meant a few signs, marshals and information was distributed to make things run smoothly.

Does anyone have any pictures of what I missed?

I can only agree with athe disappointment expressed here. My first time in the Ferrari. Queued for an hour from 8.30, dodd the double back at the roundabout to get in then ordinary cars where you would normally see the special examples. A damp squib for me and a filthy car. It made FOS seem easy. I won t go again. A real shame. Just a word for the marshals though, thank you for doing your best in pouring rain.

I got there at 7.30ish, so didn't queue at all getting in - But meant getting up very early!
Got caught up in it leaving around 10ish though, but managed to get stuck directly behind an F40, with a great stunt plane flying above; so I can't complain! cloud9

Did notice a lot of normal cars being shown towards the gravel/paddock area - and apparently missed the Veyron, but for us it was a great morning among some excellent cars..

I left just after 9:30am. I was chatting to one of the Marshells at Goodwood. He was saying it has been a complete and utter Nightmare and everyone. As they had FAR more people then they were expecting. They were expecting alot of people (as they alwaysdo for the Supercars) but NOT the amount they were. So PLEASE do not blame them. Hesaidto me, thatI had the right idea by cycling there and back.

As someone else has posted it is getting too big now. Especailly the Supercars one.

It was the farse amount of people who turn up which were causing the problems. NOT the marshells. I heard several drivers in their cars, having a go at them for the queues on the roads. Which is not their fault.
