Yesterdays Bognor Regis Motor Club sprint was marred by the death of a lady Caterham driver. Our thoughts and sympathies go out to the Harrison Moore family.

Hows, whys and speculation are not for here imo. Very very sad news that someone died competing in a sport they loved. Best wishes to her family in this very sad time.

Not really important at this time. Let's move on.

Watch your head, that's a high horse you are sitting on.

Very sad indeed.

Would I want to fast in a car designed in the 1950s? No. Especially at Goodwood with its limited run-off areas.

I was there but was spared witnessing the accident as my wife and I were in the shop. I have no desire to know any more about it and hope it does not become matter for discussion here. What the news may report is one thing but curiosity and speculation is another.

Condolences to her family and friends alike.

I wonder what may come of this for the circuit...revisions of any sort maybe?
I read somewhere that it wouldn't pass current safety legislation and that it is only allowed to function as is by virtue of historic status. Tragedy of this type is comparatively rare thankfully which may serve to throw a spotlight on this particular circuit.

Just to echo my post in the thread in the UK Motorsports section, my thoughts are with Sandra's friends and family, the rescue teams, the Lotus 7 contingent who were there on Saturday and the oganisers and marshals who dealt with the incident.

These things do happen in our sport, but we must learn from them so that, as far as we can, the same situation does not result in the same outcome next time.

Take care all..

Hopefully, no major revisions will be called for at Goodwood.
Although a not very palitable fact, there has been at least one other track day fatality at the circuit since it was "modernised" in 1998.

As a Caterham owner who has paticipated in Sprints and Trackdays at Goodwood, I would appreciate some sort of discussion and investigation into the cause of the accident - although the main ingredient seems to have been the very poor weather conditions.

And I think Ozzie's comments on the car are totally out of place.

By the way, there are at least two other threads on this subject in two other forums on PH.

very sad. R.I.P.

the fact that she clearly died whilst doing something she loved does not make it any easier to bear.

only just heard about this, very sad thoughts to family and friends. as people on this site are educated enough to know no track can be 100% safe and accidents will always happen but people with a love of motorsport will carry.

I would say it is important, if track lay-out or design was a contributing factor then things could be changed to reduce the chances of it happening again.

It was pretty bad on saturday and yes the Caterhams I saw were being very cautious around the chicane. What I would like to know though is whether other tracks offering track day experiences like Goodwood have also suffered fatalaties and whether any other tracks fare worse in this respect. As the signs say MOTORSPORT IS DANGEROUS!

There are parts of Goodwood that could use some buffering for the cars. but it doesn't matter how much safety you have all tracks are still dangerous to everyone.
Plato proved on saturday you can end up in the woods at Thruxton.
