I'm going to FOS this year on Sunday.

When booking tickets I noticed tickets for the Moving Motor Show on the Thursday.

There isn't a great deal of info on the FOS site, does anyone have any experience of the event from previous years?

What can I expect? Is it worth it?

manufacturers displaying new models and releases up the hill, members of the public can get to drive them (havent done this myself so not sure how to get a drive) i go to look around the pit area, not all cars are out but a fair amount are and its very quiet. they had freestyle moto cross display last year and its a good day to check out merchandise stands

It's great; a relaxing day, not too many crowds and you get to see some of the show cars arriving and being prepped for their display / run, at the same time getting better access to speak to the drivers / preppers. You also to get to go up the Hill if you wish and have pre-booked a drive, and you may get to see some famous people you may not get access to on the busier days. You get alot less people walking in front of you when taking photo's too. Its a nice gentle ease in to the full-on FOS 3 days.

Guys, any idea how you get a drive in some of the cars? I assume I need to contact the manufacturers direct? Has anyone had any previous experience?

I have a feeling its too late now....

See other post - go early, be bold (i.e. go and ask!) and take your driving licence...

got an email from Toyota that I won two tickets for Moving Motor Show (I entered competition on their website couple of weeks ago) and one of 86 drives up to the hill in GT86!!!

Awesome! First time to go there and got to drive a car that I actually like smile

Last year the MMS parking was 'further down the hill' and I had to walk back up past the golf course and helicopter landing area to get to the start / finish line entrance near the MMS massive garage marquee. Is it the same for this year, or will the parking area closer to the F1 pits [where I park on the Friday] be open?

Also do GRRC members get a different parking area for the MMS or are just shown closer to the front of the parking area

Cheers in advance smile

So the actual FOS isn't happening as such on the Thursday? I've won tickets through Seat for the Thursday, but if it's not the full event, then I'm not going to be as disappointed that I can't make it.

Edit: Just read a few posts answering my question for me. That's a relief!

For me the Thursday is the best day to go. I don't tend to get time to watch cars going up the hill anyway and pretty much everything else is there. I like getting the time to do things like looking at the supercars with only one or two other people as opposed to trying to get a peak through a crowd five deep.

The car park for the Thursday is always the one below the golf club with a walk across the golf course to get in to the show. The other car parks aren't usually open. The GRRC parking is just a bit further up the field as far as I'm aware.

Weather is looking damp in the morning, but I'll be there as every year I want to go I'm working or something else comes up!
