Perhaps they've managed to tempt Sebastian Vettel to the FoS, given that he's the youngest driver ever to win the World Drivers' Championship ?

Looking forward to it already smile

"other weekend activies are available".. If you don't want to go, don't. Clearly many other thousands of people cannot wait.

Thanks - I won't and didn't intend to.

Having been on numerous occasions and having been a supplier to the event and worked behind the scenes for some years I think it's lost some of its gloss.

The whole 'theme' idea strikes me as simply a way to say the same thing in differing ways. It'll be the same cars with the same drivers, same rip off food with the same problems if the weather is poor. FWIW this is not only my opinion, but that of quite a few loyal FOS friends.

Still, life would be boring if we all liked the same thing!

Hope you enjoy it smile

What would you do differently? Serious question. Lots of people say they won't go any more, it's lost its shine etc etc

If you were the Goodwood team - what would you change to get the gloss back?

That's a really difficult question to answer, regardless of the fact I'm bored with it, it's a good event and has its place on the motorsport calendar.

Firstly I think the ticket price is spot on. I would however stop taking the piss out of the public, charge reasonable prices for refreshments, goodies etc. and don't bite the hand that feeds you. That said, whilst the track layout is only as it can be, stands have now reduced and unless you can afford to pay for seating, you're fighting for a good view - which is not good! It's the fee paying public who help fund the event, please respect that.

Can't comment on the moving motor show, I've never been. I would say however, don't put lives at risk and Goodwood were lucky year one from memory that nobody was seriously injured.

Better wet weather facilities - have you been there when it rains?, it's awful at best and money needs to be spent just in case. It's no good after the event suggesting we'll look into what happened. If the public are going to spend their hard-earned, I for one don't want to be 6" deep in mud in the main arena (as it were) and get my car stuck in the car park!

Rather than try and be clever and have a 'theme' every year, accept it is for what it is; in essence the same event every year with a different structure in front of the house. Sure you might get a few more Jaguar's one year or whatever, but every time I go (and I've been a lot), it's generally the same cars with the same drivers. There's only so many different ways of saying...'come to a bloody good petrolhead show', but as I've said, there is no better event for meeting drivers and we all have stories to tell when we met him or her or whoever, and that's great.

I just wonder if it is becoming a bit 'old hat' because there is only so much you can do with an event like this and by its very nature it will become repetitive?

i dont tend to agree with the "fighting for a good view" i always find it easy enough to get trackside. the moving motor show is not for me but i go on the thursday to check out what is in the pits and have a look about the merchandise area.as for the price i think its very good value and could easily have been dramatically increased in the last five years.

I am inclined to agree with this. The event is UNIQUE, Lord March could effectively charge what he wanted!

A ticket to Goodwood is 1/3 of the price of the other big UK Motorsport event (British Grand Prix!)

While it doesn't make it OK, the food and drink prices are in line with any other event, be it football, motor racing or golf. Arguably the quality is better than all of the above, in my experience anyway.

I've been every year for the last 4 now and been lucky it never rained on the day. I can imagine it being a horrid experience if it did but, again, so does every large scale outdoor event. Anyone who has ever been to a music festival or Silverstone when it rains heavily will confirm this. Short of laying tarmac and installing drainage everywhere this is something that I see no viable solution for.

The seating and viewing situation is a problem. I pay for the 'roaming grandstand' option simply because it gives me a view and some cover should it rain or shine, but at £42 I resent it a lot - it's almost as much as the entry ticket! It does feel like you pay for entry but if you want to see anything, well, you'll need to pay more!!

The cars and drivers are the same every year with a few exceptions. While this does make it a little less of an experience each year, for me anyway, it's not the sole reason I go. I enjoy the atmosphere, BBQ's, friends and social as much as anything else.

£35 - £50 depending on which day you visit, sometimes BOGOF offers available via newspapers. The three day ticket is good value, about £110. Thursday, the Moving Motor show, you can probably get a free ticket if you're in the right place at the right time.

It will be good if they got some of the Moto GP riders. In 2012, Assen (Netherlands) MotoGP is the same weekend as the FoS. Race day for Assen is Saturday. So it would be good to get some of them their on the Sunday. I know a few years ago now, they had Nicky Hayden their on the Sunday, when it clashed with Assen.

It would be. But it would be MANIC to get his autograph and photographs of him off his motorbike. Unless you are extremely lucky.

Silverstone are getting 50 F40's together, I wonder if Goodwood will do anything to mark the "Silver Jubilee" of the F40?

Is there an event timetable for the FoS? I'll be there Wed-Sun and want to plan what to do when, but can't find any sort of timetable on the Goodwood site.
