Any body got pix of before the revamp of the pits and track, basically before it got pretty
I have put in these two of the Lancia Fulvia 25th celebration which was at the track. I think the Delta Integrale is being driven by Juha Kankkunen with 3 passengers scaring the life out of them.

cool! I went up in a light aircraft from goodwood when I was a kid in the Mid 90s sometime... all I remember was there was a shed and some grass and driving through the tunnel to the infield....

Here is a Porsche RS about 1988 again looking towards the south from the pits. Where this 911 is standing is where all the pit garages are now and tarmac!!

Great thread - I started going there in the mid 1980's and those photos have really brought it back - I seem to remember there were one or two car clubs that ran sprints and everything just randomly parked on the grass! hard to believe when you see how good it looks now!

This is great, I have some more of a supercar day which I think Carrera Sport in Haywards Heath used to run. I remember there was a white Countach with the number plate 5EXY I think and very tricked engined black 911 with a very loud ICE package. I will try and dig them out.
Keep digging guys the pixs are out there
I love the way everyone stood on the banking very close to the track, although in the pit lane the marshalls were always screaming at folk to get out of the way, it was a bit like the rally stages with folk on the course…. I think what they have done to the pits and area is great today but it was quite eventful wandering about in the mud.

On one occasion I was coming back from a meeting and popped in to see if anything was going on and as I turned out of the tunnel I came face to face with a Mclaren F1 prototype.
It turned out it was a customer day at the circuit. So I parked quietly and wandered up to the pit wall to see Jonathan Palmer taking customers round on demo laps. Peter Gethin was there and gave me a look as like what are you doing here so I just smiled and carried on watching…I bet you cant do that today when it is closed off

I found these from around 1988-90 I think
Some are from a Rally cross event which used the track in reverse and the others are the supecar day and also an Aston Martins Owners club day

I used to go and see the odd sprint/stage rally in the late 80's. I bought my first Impreza in 1994 and did a few trackdays at Goodwood and have used my RS Focus, Evo 6 and other cars over the years.

The best action I did see was a late 80's race between Stig Blomqvist (RS200) and a chap in an F40 who pulled away from Stig on the straights but Stig killed him on the bends. I think Stig won.

I wonder if that RS200 was a Evo or a clubman edition. I doubt it was a Evo as that F40 (amazing though F40's are) would have not beaten the RS200, I think the Evo RS200 was pushing out 600+ BHP!!! 0-60 2.1 secs!!!!

On another note my friend CHRIS DRAKE used to run/organise the Goodwood trackdays when it was old school Goodwood, anyone remember him?

I have to say it's quite an eye-opener , you assume that the modern Goodwood is the old one rebuilt but looking at these photo's there was very little actually there , at least they have made it feel correct and of an era with the buildings they have put there.

The RS200 was Stig's own car. I'd be surprised if it was not a full fat one. It did not have a high top speed so it took a few laps to get the better of the Ferrari.
