On my blackberry but was the driver ok after the big shunt in this race? Looked pretty bad from my seat in Chicane stand. I believe it was car No6 the Aston Martin DBR4 driven by Hubert Fabri.

Late in the day Goodwood Radio said all drivers who had been taken to hospital were ok. No more detail though. And yes it was Hubert Fabri. We saw the crash from Woodcote grandstand. Was a big impact frown

Oh so that's why we were held in the assembly area for so long before doing the track parade. When we asked what the hold up was no-one seemed to know what was going on, only that they thought that there had been an accident. I'm glad to hear the driver(s) was/were ok. smile I do wish that Goodwood would confirm such things sooner though, as otherwise it leads to speculation (a bit like what happened at FOS this year). I know that they have to be careful before making such announcements, but sometimes it's almost like they want to gloss over the fact that there's been a 'big off'.

Update - it seems he suffered a broken collar bone and rib (or two maybe).

We were waiting to join at Lavant for the parade , they took a long time to get him out so were quite concerned , glad to hear it's not more serious , those old cars are so unforgiving in an accident like that.

Yes , thats me ! laugh are you putting that video up somewhere ? I would love a copy , the trouble with being in the parade you only get to see a little of it , it was surreal on Friday being passed by the racing cars and then Laurel and Hardy in their old model T ! a great opportunity for us in the cars a year or two outside the 66 cut off being given an "amnesty" for this one event. clap What were you in Daisy ?

I was in the 'Gatsonides' Monte Carlo winning Zephyr, with MOH driving and Mark Ovenden (MD for Ford of Britain) in the front passenger seat. smile Yes it was quite something driving past such a wide variety of Fords, it was just a shame about the weather, particularly for those in open top vehicles. I'll put up the video later, once I've had a chance to see if it needs editing. I hope you're not expecting a high quality piece though (there's a lot of wind noise and I kept getting rain on the lens), but at least it's a record of the event. biggrin

Out of interest, what year was the Zephyr/Zodiac Hearse called a Cardinal?

Absolutely any record is a must , I may not be able to get to the 200th year celebration scratchchin unless there is a breakthrough in cryogenic freezing in which case I may plan ahead for that one rolleyes in the meantime I hang on to the hope of a 50 year anniversary celebration of a certain model of car next year laugh

Real shame to see some heavily damaged cars. Berger made a complete mess of the Bryant cobra on Friday, and Carlos Monteverde gave himself a proper bump in the Lister Jag on the approach to Woodcote just afterwards.

Hope the drivers are on the mend.

Yes, but at least it shows that they aren't just doing a Disneyland style pretend race - they really are trying and using the cars as intended.

I do wonder if the drivers hold off slightly; if you're in a 2011 F1 car you know you can hit a wall at 200mph and survive, it must be a bit more risky in a 1940s car!

As long as the drivers are OK - cars can be rebuilt - then it's all good stuff.

Hadn't seen the photos of the Bryant Cobra - ouch that looks a mess. Pye was suggesting on the commentary that it was Olly Bryant's first TT, didn't he compete in about 2007 as well? Someone jog my memory!

Bob Birrell's FJunior smash was a horror one as well. Certainly the last time since Stretton's accident where I've held my breath and hoped for the best.

Finally, anyone else think Desire Wilson's shunt looked like brake failure? I seem to recall that same E-Type suffered a bad accident in about 2005 - possibly in Dario's hands. Can anyone fill in the blanks in my memory? Genuine Lightweight as well...
