An apology to some car parkers in B yesterday
Discussion
In case any of the people waiting to leave car park B yesterday were fuming at an E-type jumping the queue at the lights then please accept my apologies. The poor old girl was a bit poorly and would not have survived the queuing! She'll be 50 in a few days.
As it was it took us 1.5 hrs to cover 25 miles.
Also thanks to the young lady who works at Goodwood and the couple in the Jag who stopped to assist in the morning when we first broke down 2 miles from the gate and to the many others who offered or gave assistance on our numerous unexpected stops on the way home!
By the way, great day, great weather and shame about the AC Cobra - I hope it can be fixed.

It will be once the hot start/running is sorted and the total loss of rear brakes!
Had a binding caliper at the rear on the way there. It fried the seals so lost all the brake fluid. The hot start/running was the bigger problem though as as soon as you lifted off the engine would cut out (and then not restart!)hence the decision to jump the queue

I sympathised and looked on patiently as the driver of a red 2+2 E-Type in front of me leaving car park B Sunday night was having difficulty maintaining pace while the car was warming up. At one point he coasted with the hazards on as he tried to restart and get moving again. He acknowledged my patience with a friendly wave. At least he was among friends who appreciate the problems that older cars can bring you. On Sunday morning there were a pair of E-Types one of which had succumbed to what looked like overheating problems along the A27 west just before we peeled off the up ramp to Revival.

Are Jaguar E-Type engines rather tempermental then? It took me 1 hour 20 mins to get out of car park D on Friday evening and my 53 year-old Aston's engine was faultless old WO Bentley designed a good one Sorry about your problems...
I wouldn't say so but I understand that the early ones (as indeed this one is) had barely adequate cooling. Later models did have a larger opening in the nose to improve airflow and cooling around the engine bay.RichB said:

Thanks. Will it polish out? Last week I was driving my wife's Porsche when I accidentally drove past a branch which had fallen during the high winds. It left a scratch right down one side but after about 30 mins polishing it's completely gone. Hope you're lucky. RichB said:

Now you say that I may have scraped against a bush on the way to goodwood but was sure there wasn't a scratch, I think it might polish out but I may need to spend some time on it. Gassing Station | Goodwood Events | Top of Page | What's New | My Stuff
