Anyone have any inside knowledge of the best routes/lanes to get into to get into the closest car parks/fastest running queues?

I know from going to Fairford, on one route which has parallel lanes, one lane peels off into a carpark right by the entrance and the other lane gives me a half mile walk for example.

Are there any back routes?

What is the worst queuing time? Would consider taking the push bike - I just hate sitting in queues, but can push bikes park really close? Again at Fairford we were further away than some cars which seemed really unfair!

Coming form M27 from the west (Dorset).

The rat runs and back roads near the event will be blocked off in order to prevent traffic chaos. Follow the signage near to the event and you'll be fine. Traffic will get slow at peak arrival and leaving times, as long as everyone behaves / does as they're told, and no one tries to be a knob everyone will get in in good time.

you can lock your push bike up right at the entrance gates next to the Pub (start line)

I always found going past the Goodwood Horse track / Golf Club and down the hill was pretty quick - Also you can coast down Kennel hill in the line of traffic..

i think this might be what you're after...always found the road from Singleton (town lane)past the racecourse, to be the fastest road in . we always stay south of Chichester but drive up the a286 (nice!) and then approach from the North. it's a shorter walk from the car to the gate too and then you're straight into the F1 and rally paddocks.

Thanks all - a range of suggestions to think about. Wasn't planning on being a knob, but some routes into events snarl up and others don't, so just after the inside track.

Last year my Dad and I rocked up at around 06:00 and drove through some trees, 1 miles across some field and parked right at the entrance where all people displaying cars park their RVs and big campervans.

We then walked straight in without ever showing our tickets.

We would have got away without paying.

It was very very weird walking around the place deserted, no one even questioned why we were there... there was literally no one around;

wasn't really planning on that type of route - sneak was perhaps the wrong term. Of the "n" official routes in, some are just always busier than others. Come on JGoodwood, you know no one on PH is really interested in the FoS, so just let me know, I won't tell anyone!!

In truth, probably the numnber of people who will read this will be actually be small - Its not ttter (SIC)after all.

Friday night was a pain at just after six. Eventually got onto the A27 and then someone in a 911 had a breakdown or whatever on the A29 which held traffic up for another twenty minutes or so. It's not getting in, which as mentioned elsewhere is best done early, but the getting out as various exits empty out onto the same roads which negates some of the usually well managed traffic flow routes.

bit heavy getting in this morning but was a bit late and on way home tonight a car spun out right on the M26/M20 junction which meant a stop of about 20 minutes, but a great day today

Traffic was real bad leaving at 18:15 on Sunday .. anyone else get stuck in that lot.

Thanks to all the car drivers who moved out of the way for me on my bike.

The jam started at Goodwood and went more or less solid to Hindhead (A3)..

I managed to get a lift in and back yesterday. I live just outside Winchester, at 6:00 am we got there in 40 minutes. We left at about 20:00 after the prize giving / house reception, there were no delays or queues anywhere, we got home in about 30 minutes. It's amazes me that so many people all try and leave en masse, at about 18:00. I can understand people who live hours away needing to get gone pronto, but I wouldn't imagine that they represent the bulk of the departing masses.
