I'm sure it's been asked before but what 'real world' mpg figures do you get out of a V8. I'm guessing about 18 but i'm trying to convince myself it's more like 23-24mpg. Daydreaming through the classifieds leaves me yearning!

I've seen around 30mpg on long autoroute cruises at 130kmh.
But it's very easy to halve that around town, or worse evil

I used to get about 22 on average, about 12 around the town. Don't take this the wrong way, but if you are worried about the petrol bills then I'd serious consider if it's the right car for you. There's an expression that goes with this type of car : If you think you can just about afford to run one; you can't.

It's a head and heart thing. But if you listened to your head everytime you'd never buy anything but a eurobox. I did buy an 'exotic' about 4 years ago but got in to difficulty with it when it started to go wrong. I wouldn't need to borrow as heavily to get an Esprit and if it was just fuel costs then it wouldn't be too bad, but there is the maintenance costs to factor in as well. Just trying to see if the sums add up.
Thanks for posting your mpg figures.

I used to get around 24/25 mpg with a mix of driving. They're surprisingly economical in comparison to other sports cars of that ilk.

I averaged 19 mpg over 7500 miles, and 1 year of driving in a 4.6 ltr supercharged mustang. Sometimes drive it like i stole it, other times speed limits and no extra revs all the way, so a pretty good guide...

Not clocked mine properly (brim to brim) for a while but it seems to do around 18-20mpg on A/B road runs mainly fairly sedate driving but with the odd quick blast thrown in :-). It did 24mpg on its last long motorway run at 80-90ish, which was also the last time I measured it properly.

HTH

Cheers
