I recentley bought a DeLorean. Great car but realy poor handling when on standard suspension.

The ride height I would also like to adjust. So, I had a look on the internet and couldn't find a suspension kit for a DeLorean that is fully adjustable in height. Only the rear is adjustable on the kit that I found.

A few years back, there was a person with a Delorean who claimed he had Lotus Esprit suspension installed but can't contact him.

Some looking around on the net learns me that the chassis and suspension of the Esprit and the DeLorean are very similar but can't find info that is 100% sure.

So, I was wondering if there was somebody here who could help me to sort this out?
I found a firm that sells a completly adjustable suspension kit.

Thanks in advance

Mike Taylor, who runs LotusBits, is a very helpful & knowledgable chap. It's worth calling him to discuss options.

Thanks for the replies guys. I've read the article on Espritworld a few months back. The thought to call Lotus bits had occured to me but I wasn't sure if they would have the time. I know they are very busy. Thanks to let me know they're helpfull.

I'll measure the weight of the Delorean front and rear because I think that's something they will want to know when I give them a call.

Greetings
Mario

If there's a chance of some new business, they're always helpful at Lotusbits wink

Seriously - Mike & Dave will advise you, or do some research and then advise you & probably quote a price for the job.

I measured the weight of the car. Total is 1320kg, 490kg at the front, 830kg at the rear.

That's a weight ditribution of 37/63.

Phoned to Lotusbits earlier this week but the person I needed was busy on another line. I was advised to send an email so I did. So far no news, but I guess those guys are very busy.

Can anybody help me with some drawings of the front and rear suspension of an Esprit please?

I've added drawings of the DeLorean suspension.

Another question. I've seen pictures of Esprit front suspension that has upper arms (2 links) that are capable to adjust the camber. Than I've have also seen pictures of upper arms that are 'identical' to
that of a DeLorean. Are the upper arms changed during the years? It is rumered that DeLorean uses a Opel Manta A upper arm. From which car was the Lotus upper arm sourced from?

Phoned to Lotus bits (like you guys said) a few weeks back. They were very helpfull and gave me some interesting info.

A+ to deal with them.

It seems that I have to do some more research first to be able to bring this project to a good end.
