Door mirror surround

Hi,
I am on the look out for a replacement black plastic door mirror surround for my 1998 GT3.
Does anybody know if the surround can be found on it's own or do you have to purchase the whole mirror? I beleive the surrounds are just push fit.
I am aware the mirrors were Citroen CX, also used by TVR I think.
I've tried searching on the net but so far have had no joy.
Any suggestions...??

You are correct about the source for the door mirror.I went to a main Citroen dealer who confirmed that it would have to have been a new mirror as the surround was not available seperately. Unfortunately the mirror is no longer available from citroen. Not much help really.

I caught the very edge of my surround on the garage door and it put a crack in it. As i could not get a new one i thought i would take it to a local bodyshop and they did a fabulous undetectable repair to it for £15 cash, so if you still have the broken bit do not despair!

I took my whole mirror off to clean it up etc and I think from what I recall you have to take off the glass to remove the surround,but I may be wrong there. Have a good look at LEF for guidance if you do. They are 1st class.

If you do need a replacement I am certain you will get some guidance via pistonheads as to a second hand replacement source.

Mine is the same, it has a crack but unfortunatley a little piece of the plastic is missing. It's been like it since I got the car, (3yrs ago) and is something that I just keep meaning to get sorted if I can.
Hopefully, someone on here may be able to help.

I was on the hunt for several weeks trying to find one for my previous Esprit - they don't fall off so someone must have nicked it (bloody Citroen drivers). I started to look at breakers yards where, even if you have to buy a whole mirror, it shouldn't be that expensive.

A week later I totalled the car after spinning on black ice so it became a bit academic.......

Weird thing was, I bought another V8 a few months later and within days someone had nicked my Lotus dust caps and the aerial!

I'm on the lookout for the same black plastic surround from a G car mirror. Problem seems to be that the only ever come up as being a whole mirror for sale whereas I just need a bit of it.

I've found that the "best" place to get CX Mirror parts is from http://cx-basis.de/eshop/advanced_search_result.ph... Not cheap, but a decent stock and ships pretty quickly. Alternatively, try Mike Taylor at Lotusbits - chances are he'll have a second-hand one from an Excel or Esprit somewhere in his storeroom.
