Lotus V8 not starting up, but no trouble code
Discussion
Recently tried to start up my 99 Esprit V8 (US) after it was sitting for a year and can crank but no ignition. I noticed that the Check Engine light blinks when the ignition is turned on, but used an OBD II scan tool (not the Tech 1 scan tool) and there are no trouble codes showing. Does the Check Engine light alway blink when key is turned? Do the trouble codes only get activated once the engine has been running? If so, any hints on how you diagnose if the engine won't start in the first place?
Many Thanks,

Hi there,
First I would make sure battery is over 12V, 13V would be better. Then check to make sure inertia switch in engine bay hasn't been triggered. If it has then simply press the button down. It's locate on RH side on engine firewall.
Then I would check fuses and make sure fuel pump makes a whirring noise.
Also check your immobiliser isn't causing the engine not to fire. Check you fob or use the contact fob on the button on centre console to disable alarm. Again check fuses and relays etc.
You need to establish whether you are getting a spark or it's fuel related.

David
