My boss has a 1989 Lotus Esprit SE. I took it for a drive yesterday and noticed the braking for the car was like pressing on a brake pedal that either A, had no brake fluid or B, was not boosted by the brake booster. My calves started to cramp up from trying to press on the brakes. He says that the brakes have always been that way. Is this normal type of pressure to put on the brake pedal for these "supercars" or is it suppose to be alot easier like any other automobile?

The brakes are small on these cars, but if everything is working as it should most def should feel like any other car. Leaky slave or master cylinder could be a number of things.

Sounds like no vacuum, the pedal will be rock hard.

Either the vacuum pump is dead or a vacuum line has come off somewhere. Check what mmHg it's pulling on the pump, should be 12mm+ from memory.
