I have been hunting around on the net for some options and there seems to be plenty out there now. The system I have is way too quiet and I am sick of people telling me it sounds like a Six!! Boooo
I currently have two straight pipes out the back with giant cans, plus it’s decatted. This was put on in the UK by Blue Flame Exhausts and designed to accommodate over 400bhp.
I have listened to a few YouTube clips of peoples systems and some quite frankly sound like tractors. Or just not a great representative sound file.
The law here is that is must have some kind of muffler system and can be decatted. As for noise limit well I get the warrant of fitness guy to come to my place, so doubt it will be too much of a problem. wink

So my requirements are, must be high flow and cater for 400+ bhp
Visually appealing, shiny stainless system at least – no bird st wields!
Sounds as a V8 should. Esp. at full noise: devil:
Decent delivery time to NZ, within a few weeks would be nice.

So at Esprit meets over there whose system sounds the sweetest?

Ernest M has Scuderia i think, they sound amazing.(ask him for the video) As a cheaper alternative, Larini are alright and give a decent sound.

Have to agree though, standard is too plain, rough it up a little!

Tubi actually -

Still going strong, too. No rust. No breaks or cracks. (and I know it sounds anal but I still keep the carbon wiped out of the inside of the tips as well)

biggrin

On this topic do the twin centered exhausts of the final edition esprits sound any better than the standard side exhausts? Does anyone have any insight as to whether you can get a Scuderia or Larini as a twin center exhaust system? Thanks.

How are you Ernest, I am glad your still loving the V8. Nothing wrong with wiping the soot out of the pipes, I do the same !! I have a new trick though we have a 99 Octane rated bio fuel (completely safe) which makes your pipes inside turn white. Looks like ive been either super anal at keeping them clean or running aviation fuel biggrin

Have you checked the Larini site? They do one. But youll need to purchase the mesh grill surround. See Dave W.

Cant help with the noise comparison as I have only seen one other V8 here with a custom twin exit set up that sounded nice. And I dont have a clue where they got theirs from, just seen it in KW Historics up on hoist etc. Also added to a 99-2000 V8GT. Ken might be able to give you a lead there. Some bird who remains to be unknown owns it down Taranaki way.

Yes thats the one - looks fantastic!! quite keen to go back to this config set-up. Ill have to double check underneath I think all the original hanging brackets etc have been stripped off previously. I doubt the current pipes are hanging from the orginal ones.

Tubi makes a glorious noise. Not too loud, not too soft. After a rally during one of the car shows I attended, I had a Porsche driver come up to me and say "You know, I just had to stay behind you the whole way. The sound was just fantastic..."

biggrin
