Always fancied an Esprit SE since my time at college in the late 80's.

Not an SE, but a garage close to me has a NA with lots of history.

Would this be a good bet for dipping my toe in the water & easily sold on in the future or will I feel short-changed and wish I'd plumped for the SE and then find myself unable to sell on?

Thanks in advance

If its got lots of history it means lots of work has been done but not necessarily that it is mechanically sound. Get a second opinion and drive the car for a decent day before committing. In fact drive several.
Incidentally, its Esprit.
Not Espirit

Sorry.

At least try an SE, the difference in performance is beyond description!
Not a big difference in cost but test the water with one of these 4.9 sec to 60 secs from a regular at LEF and you re pretty safe know ing its been with an enthusiast.
Worth the punt!!

Is it a G car N/A or a Stevens N/A?

There are quite a few wedge N/A's about although Turbo's are more desirable, but if it's a N/A wedge i dont think it will be that hard to sell on, as many like the simpler N/A setup

If it's a Stevens Car N/A i would personally avoid, very few such cars were sold, much like the N/A 90's Elan which tells it's own story, the problem with the Stevens car is the game had moved on, and people expected a lot more performance for the looks and from there Supercars, the fact the two Turbo modles were massively faster did not help at all

I would go turbo all the way if Stevens, as i imagaine very few people want a N/A version of this model and sales figures would seem to confirm that, whats true in the past for classics tends to be in the present, and what was unloved then will probably be unloved now for the same reasons

I would get the model you really want straight away, don't bother "working up to it". You could find yourself sinking large amounts of unrecoverable cash into whichever one you buy, might as well be the keeper.
