Esprit S2.2 values
Discussion
Hi all esprit lovers, I have an S2.2 with @33000 miles on the clock that has been in storage for nearly 20yrs!!! The clutch was slipping decided to overhaul engine (stripped, replaced rings, gaskets and head overhauled.)and gearbox (3rd gear syncro changed) while they were out, then started on the rest of the running gear. What do the esprit experts think it would be worth restored, I need some incentive to put it back together and have lost touch with values. thanks in advance
I'm sure you've seen this...http://www.lotusespritworld.com/EModels/S22.html
They were produced in very low numbers and so could fetch a decent amount, all depends on level of restoration. You'd be looking to sell it as a collector's item because most people interested in Esprits are told to enter the market with the more popular and reliable nonturbo S3. Again, I'm probably telling you things you already know but keep surfing the for sale area of the PH and LEW sites and occasionally a 2.2 will pop up. Good luck.

Thanks for the feedback Mike I think it is about time I got stuck into it! The PNM car is a little strange I would have thought much more than £2000 extra to finish it to a decent standard?
Do you think it is worth taking the body off the chassis to fully paint overhaul or leave the chassis in the excellent original condition it is in?
Loose Cannon Red with black cloth interior (strange grey strobe stripes up the centre)all original needs a small repair to one bolster and foam replacing in parts, body just needs paint no damage/cracks and rear bumper. I will try and get some pictures taken & uploaded.

That S2 at PNM has laid about for years, must just be something they get stuck into in quiet moments, which they don't have many of! The strobe grey trim is genuine original S2.2 and was used in the Eclat Elite too. I imagine it was made to tone in with just about any colour, in reality it's pretty ugly. Unless it was immaculate I'd retrim it but up to you obviously.
Don't go by the price PNM are trying to sell theirs at, it's way off the mark. I think Pete's not in touch with prices. I see this car on a regular basis and it's not worth £8K. Just becuase it's an S2.2 doesn't mean it's worth anymore in my opinion. If buyers really want a 2.2 engine then all they have to do is buy an S3 for £6K upwards.
