Having been left by the Mrs I decided to cheer myself up by indulging in some heavy drinking sessions. Unfortunately I only managed one before I realised how much I hate hangovers, so I decided to buy myself a Lotus Esprit SE Highwing with a view of doing a rolling restoration on it.

I am getting the urge to have it resprayed as the exterior is looking a little tired and was wondering if anyone knew an approximate cost and if anyone could recommend any good places to go?

I do live in Essex but am quite willing to travel if it means a top quality job and decent price.

allow @2k for a good job. but add more for colour change, damage etc. Or strip it yourself and save a bit.

Based in Chelmsford, great outfit and will do a good job on an Esprit.

Top of the range is to send it back to the factory but it's £5k for a paintjob there.

try Shell Shocked Autobodies in devon, they seem to do lots of japanese stuff and plenty of custom resprays etc. The quality seems good from there and the service was impecable. Id budget around 1.5-2K for a same colour spray and prob nearer the 2.5-3K for a colour change. Should be able to get their number from google. I only know their email (enquiries@shellshocked.tk )

hope that helps

Interesting to know if anyone has ever had their car sprayed MATT Black!

I am considering it. If it comes to it I might even consider sanding lots then a can of appropriate paint and a 3" brush...

If you take matt black I'd consider a wrap on top of the car. Matt black is a bit of hype these days, but with a wrap you can always return to the original. (And when professionally done you really can't tell the difference)
