Is there any graceful way of getting in and out of an Elise? if there was could be tempted to buy one i am about 6 foot medium to light build have no bother with the Esprit...... any solutions?

Simple: swing in one leg, and let yourself sink down in the leather. Once embraced by the body moulded seat, pull in your other leg. You would not want to know how fast to close the door and get going (pulling your leg here...).

Getting out: put out one leg, push yourself up with one hand on the door sill.

It will be easier than you think. Need any more convincing?
