Hi,can anybody help.My Esprit is getting a bit stiff to get into first gear and i now can not get reverse.I did have a broken spherical bearing bush which i replaced and it seemed ok,but after trying a few times i then could not get reverse again.Is my clutch going or is it another problem.
Hi, what year is it? Just there were changes to the gear mechs from 98 I think. Hope you sort it soon, I am sure it will be something small, but check these first:
Check the condition of the master and slave cylinder for leaks and fluid levels. Air or low levels in the system will cause the symptoms as you describe too. Check the rear linkage assembly for adjustment, condition of boots, rod ends, could be one of these just seized. Clean and lubricate all moving parts.
With out seeing the condition of the reverse inhibitor block and surrounding parts at the gear selection end, its hard to make a call.
