Hi
does anyone know anything of the history of the World Champion Esprit S2 #79 that is on ebay. By brother is thinking of buying it and I would like to find out a little about it.
I have had later Esprits but never an S2. Anything particularly scary I sould look out for on this model(other than the whole car)? I think the engine by then should be sound and it has had a rebuild but what about the gearbox? Also any particular rust areas? My Esprit S4 rusted out both tanks which was really expensive, do the early cars do the same? Anything to check on the chassis or suspension?

Esprit chassis were not galvanised on the S1/2 so unless it has documantation for a chassis change it could have problems which would require body-off attention. Prime candidates for inspection are the tube next to the manifold, and , I think, the box section at the front. There are plenty of buying guides to be found on the net (try Lotus Esprit World)
