I own a 1995 Esprit S4. All of a sudden the spedo only stopped working. All the other gauges work great just the spedo stopped. It was a hot day here in NJ over 100 degrees and the car was outsid efor an hour.
Any ideas. Is the spedo mechanical or electronic?
When I started to take off the spedo spiked at 70 MPH and eased as the day wen ton, it stuck at 30 MPH. I then hit a bump and the needel bounced doen to ) and hasnt moved since. Any ideas?
I received a response that the cable is attachesd to the wheel, Does anyone know what wheel?
THANKS FOR ALL THE HELP....

My odometer on my GT3 has just stopped so I have been doing my own research
The gauge is electro mechanical with a cable coming from the wheel. Cable might have become disconnected.
Otherwise it is a new or repair job. - these guys were recommended

Sounds like one of the internal magnets has come away in the heat as they are glued on. Alternatives are: glue magnet back on yourself or get repaired, or find a new digital VDO speedo as the S4 has a digital speedo output from the ECM. I have seen these on Ebay every so often for around US$80.
This guys done it on his S4.
