Hello All,

I've been a Lotus owner for some time and have gone a bit left-field with the latest purchase - an AC Cobra 212 S/C - it uses the Lotus 3.5 Ltr Twin Turbo Engine within a carbon fibre body. Picked it up today:

Have a few quick questions for the V8 owners here:

Whats the Operating Temperature of the engine & when do you usually hear the fan cut in?
What are the service intervals of the engine?

Thanks - will post more detailed pic's in the morning smile

WOW!!! Yes pics please biggrin

I am away from home where I have a lot of info in my manuals re servicing. In the mean time search Lotusespritworld they have it there and the forum in there. I will go there now and help look to double check the operating temps for you. smile As your engine is in the front and the cooling set up is clearly different than the Esprit, I am not sure if this does or will impact on the outcome of your temp recordings. Hopefully someone else can chim in there.

In any case post up what temps your getting and when fans kick in so we can compare notes smile

Sounds rather interesting biggrin

Hello Kylie,

Thanks for helping out smile

Temp wise - due to it being bitterly cold here at the moment I never saw over 100 on the temp guage (even in London Traffic) and hence didn't hear the fans cut in - having owned two S1 Exiges I always have one eye on the temp guage and the other on the road...wink just want to make sure that I keep the engine in top shape - an absolute peach - takes some getting used to (the boost) but very well suited to the car.

Post some pics soon

James

Great car. Is it the one that Damien Hill test drove for Octane magazine?

I've just read through the Esprit V8 owners handbook and it doesn't list the fan 'on' temperature. Next time I notice the fans come on I'll check the temperature.

Regards,
Peter.

Hello Peter,

Thanks - would be keen to know - looking on the forum it appears to be 105-110, but would be keen to find out.

Re Damon Hill - Yes its that car - although I think it was for the Esquire mag (couldn't confirm - I'm a GQ man wink.....)

James,
here is a link to a site with Esprit V8 service information http://www.lotusespritworld.co.uk/EGuides/EMainten...

I always wondered if my V8 Esprit's Red Race ECU/ECM would work in your car.

Regards,
Peter.
