Esprit 1988 (non-turbo): EXHAUST / TAILGATE

Hi all,

My non-turbo Esprit doesn't really make any noise at all when I drive along ... any ideas to make it sound a little exciting? Would be great if there was a bit of a roar from the exhaust!

I've been told that a £250 tailgate replacement from somewhere like SJ Sports Cars would cost about £100 to fit and would do the job. Would it sound any good?

Any other ideas?

You're probably thinking of tail'pipe' as opposed to tail'gate' which is your boot lid!

The one from SJ does a marvellous job. Of all the mods I've done to the car in the last 5 years this is the best by far. Fit it yourself and you'll save the 100. I'm no mechanic and had no troubles fitting mine over a 2 day period.

I don't recall ever seeing a non turbo 88.
They must make it for other markets than than the USA.

What is it like comapred to a turbo car and how many other years in later model cars did they make the non turbo cars (other than the early s1/s2?

Hi there I still haven't learned much about Esprits as I have only just bought one, but I do know that 178 non-turbo Esprits were made in 1988 (the year that my car was made).
