Idea about the New Esprit

Considering that Lotus financed part of their factory by agreeing to let Vauxhall do a slightly altered Elise and call it the VX200 or whatever, is there anything to be learned from the sudden appearance of an Audi with two seats and a mid mounted V8? (and a £80K price)....Could this be a mass produced mule?? ie....we'll tell you how to make a supercar if you give us some discounted engines and all the results of your first 500 cars on the road and any faults. Am I seeing something which isn't there at all or merely something which might be there and might not??!!?
