An Esprit (no E on the end, please!) wil fit into a normal single garage. Have a look at the specs for the various models here: www.lotusespritworld.com/models.html

Failing that on the test drive take it home & see if it fits, thats what i did & as it slipped in with half inch to spare on each side the salesman rubbed his hands together....

That's exactly what I did too! Don't forget you need room to open the car door once you'ge got your Esprit in the garage. The doors are long and the car's low so exit needs a bit of space. I nailed some carpet on the garage wall to protect the door and it all worked out fine.

1. You had the wrong spelling twice in your first post, so please don't get narked when someone corrects you. After all this is something close to out hearts.

2. You havn't mentioned which model / year Esprit your interested in, so overall sizes will differ between models.

3. If it's not a standard size garage, don't you think some dimensions of your garage might help.

I disagree with all this pedantry. The mans heart is in the right place FFS! He can learn as he goes along. Took me 3 months to learn to spell it...

Motorcycle Guzzler Fellow:
If you use the mirrors when reversing in you should be fine. get carpet on the walls and a rolled up exercise mat or some-such at the back to gently 'bump' into. Its what I do and it works a treat. You will find its a tight squeeze but it will go in.

Also, lose that last stone in weight and become 'Rubberband Man, the Human Elastic Thing' and learn to 'Contort'.
Yoga also helps...

If you really love the car (as we all do!), You will buy it first and then MAKE IT fit. You could even extend your garage...I did !

Jeeze bloke, clam down. I replied to your query less than 20 minutes after you posted with a link to the most informative Esprit based website available. Clicking on that link would have given you all the specs and dimensions you require.
Bear in mind the Esprit was in production for over 30 years and you haven't told us which model you're interested in, it's a bit tricky to be any more precise with an answer.

As for the spelling, I said 'please'. I certainly wasn't hoping for a full scale attack by a dictionary salesman!

Esprit is a full 6 feet wide.

IIRC the overall width of my S3 was 73" measured from mirror tip to mirror tip.

One point when manoevering an Esprit in tight spaces is that the front is very low, a long way from the driver and out of sight. Help can be obtained by popping up the headlamps which are relatively close to the front of the car.

Gosh, I misspelled esprit. Just as well I did not refer to it as a glorified kit car as some critics do. Mind you it does have an interesting design history in its door handles. As for perhaps I should have given dimensions of my garage. Well perhaps instead of a smart arse answer, the person could have hinted at the size of his.

Sounds like a bit of a plonker or another Esprit wanna be. I however am looking to buy my first Esprit very soon. It will be a 2nd car and I have settled for an ,89 - '92 ish Esprit Turbo SE. Ideally in red. The link posted by the second poster is a wealth of information.

You should love it! But buy carefully. FSH and overall condition can be critical on these cars.

I'm curious about that too. My double garage is 7 metres (about 24feet) wide.

I have one of those like Andecorp 24'wide X 30'deep. I want a house with the newer style deeper 3 bay garages that they all have these days. Then I would not need a 10 X 15 lawn storage shed

64 feet long (including workshop) about 25 feet wide. With single and 3 phase. My house is a complete pit (still renovating it) I had the choice of re-wiring the house or buying a nice shiny electric remote control garage door. I choose the door and my girl friend went mental, women heh.

I don't know where you two live, but nobody in the UK uses their garage. (except me, that is) They fill the garage with crap that wouldn't fetch ten bucks in a sale and put forty grand's worth of easily vandalised technology on the drive. Our garages are also very small when built. I think that the builders realise that people would rather have a small study (den) and a small single garage full of crap than a nice big double garage. I have seen this in the USA, however. A lot of Florida vacation homes have had their garage turned into a games room.
I have extended my garage to take two cars and a small workshop. By UK standards, my garage is huge but probably only 25 feet wide and 18 feet deep with a 17 foot door.
