Yeah but why would Lotus use the old style door handles on a brand new model? It also looks a little like an Esprit in drag .

I dont see a problem with the mirrors, they are off a CX and were fitted to an XJ220 and numerous other cars of distinction. I think they still look modern and have a fast look about them.
Its parts bin economics. If it means getting the car into production with all the good Lotus styling and development where it counts, who cares.

They just put front and rear cladding on the previous prototype they had disguised as the old Esprit.

The mirrors, doors, glass and what not in that pic are not any part of the actual 'new Esprit'.

i've never seen another auto manufacturer disguise their test cars with prosthetic cladding. seems a little wacky. is eddie murphy driving?

Its more likely that they are testing a new chassis or engine etc on the old body.

they all do it to some extent or another...

I saw Porsche testing their new 911 near Death Valley, they didn't cover the car in anything and had I had a camera I could have made a packet selling the shots. must remember next time...
