How does one access this thing? I need to remove the motor because the gear drive is obviously worn. I was not told that the fuse was pulled to disguise the problem and the usual warranty from the previous owner means I will be climbing the learning curve sooner than expected.

Thanks for any help.

Hi,

It's really not that bad, but if it's your first repair, you won't necessarily agree.

The wiper motor is actually mounted inside the cockpit behind the dash on the left side by the 'A' pillar. You will have to assume the 'Lotus' position and this is maybe best done by 1st removing the left hand seat (4-13mm bolts under the car). Then, you will be able to lay on your back. It also helps to have a worklight because there's not much light in there. The rest is fairly straightforward. Good Luck! Happy Motoring!...Jim'85TE

Thank you very much.

I think I have been suffering a little buyer's remorse, because the car is so exotic. It is more than a little heartening to realize that so many people are willing to help.

I will get right on it.

Gaffer,

You're very welcome. As far as it being an exotic, don't let that deter you. The mechanics of the car are really somewhat unsophisticated despite the myths.

Once you become comfortable and understand the systems and how they work, it's no more difficult than any old Chevy or Ford. In fact, because so much of the Esprit's technology is rooted in the late 60's and early 70's, it's actually easier than a modern Ford or Chevy. Happy Motoring! Jim'85TE
