Of all the ridiuculous things... I would think that this message board's original purpose is to help Lotus owners keeping their cars running.
Here we have a good thread dealing with LOTUS itself, a sale on parts and somebody decides to lock the post???? I really dont get it.

Almost every Repair needs some sort of parts.. and technical advice. Why lock the post about parts from the OEM?
Any technical advice is only half useful if I dont have any parts.

Anyway to continue.. I dont think it is too much to ask for the people to respond to their emails. It has been several weeks and not even a cut and paste reply. How on earth can I know what my place is in the queue..? I supppose that by ranting here I am falling off the list altogether. Guess that owners that are not in the UK are rated as lower class to Lotus. Maybe I should have bought a thousand dollar plane ticket to buy that 5 dollar oil filter.....

What on earth was that thread locked for? Who was "advertising" exactly? Discussing a manufacturers activities is different to discussing (and therefore promoting) an event; do Pistonheads get a bung from the ACO for all the Le Mans chat? Free tickets for F1??

Get a grip moderators.

Look who started the thread, and what it is advertising.

Other companies pay to advertise on PH, LM'07 is a bad example, just because a large number of PH'ers are going to LM doesn't mean that the ACO are advertising without Ted's permission.

Umm, it was Kato who runs a very useful website all about the Lotus Esprit....
Although the site has a very friendly relationship with a certain manufacturer in Norfolk, it's not an offshoot of said manufacturer. Pistonheads started as a site about TVRs, I see no difference.

The sale that Kato was informing Esprit owners about was being held by our favourite Hethel chassis tuner, but at their Bristol distribution center.
It's a bit like telling the board members about a dvds for three quid at a 'named' supermarket?

I too found it touch heavy handed by the Mods in this case. Not impressed.

So no-one can mention any subject on Pistonheads that benefits another party without directly bringing revenue to Pistonheads...interesting concept, should cut down on a lot of unnecessary chatter...

So Le Mans is the vendor of a product, service or experience which whilst ultimately operating for the financial benefit of that organisation also benefits those enthusiasts who willingly pay to take part. They promote the event by word of mouth and openly discuss their experiences with fellow enthusiasts on various free forums.

The Lotus Parts Sale........hey, deja vu or what!

I'm not sure what's going on!

We were just informing owners that Lotus Cars Ltd were having a massive sale of Lotus Parts. We weren't running the sale or gaining any profit for it. I had to queue with everyone else for my parts!

Was it the moderator who posted about advertising?

I would just like to add, as I helped in getting people to the event, that this was a parts destock that were sold totally at cost at no profit even to Lotus. This is because they are disposing of obsolete stock. No one, Kato included made a profit from this, we were merely trying to help owners get things cheap.

For your information the sale prices stand on remaining stock for Esprit, Excel, Elite, M100 and Elise and orders can be put in to Lotus aftersales on 01953 608000, or there will shortly be an order form on their on line shop.

(p.s. I do not work for Lotus and am merely passing on information).

...in other words, they now expect the Suckers in North American to buy the Carp that didn't sell.

Is this a Random Act of Kindness or part of some Lotus Customer Loyalty Program

I do remember when Lotus USA had a sale on all of their leftover bits to make room for the Elise. Lots of (U.S.) people scooped up some pretty good deals. And some are still reselling those deals today.

The reality is that most of us are not the original intended market for Lotus products. Who here bought new and sources their own parts? Lotus made their money on the original owner and perhaps on parts to some degree thereafter. I don't think they owe me much of anything.

I see it as a surplus parts clearout sale geared towards local (UK) enthusiasts first, then all others afterwards. I take no offence. I've already gotten a number of deals from the Lotus web page on items such as taillights, front turns, suspension, trim etc. Only real complaint is the handling charge is brutal.

Hopefully there will be similar deals on "leftovers" when they become available to those of us not local.

The sale event was offered up on Lotus Esprit World
Is Lotus Esprit world banned here too?

The event was discussed for months beforehand on Lotus Esprit Forum,
and members of Lotus Esprit forum could buy items BEFORE the general
public.
When we tried to give you guys a link to LEF before, guess what?
thats right, it was modded and the poster was banned.

There are people in North america that are by no means the 'Suckers'
you describe. They knew of the sale months beforehand by using LEW and
LEF, and you will find that the day before the sale opened to even the
UK's joe public, items were bought for guys in the states and europe and
are making there way to them as we speak. The very best way of keeping
yourself out of the loop enough to call yourself a 'Sucker', is to remain
on PH and wait until after the event to moan. We would have told you before
but..
It would have been modded

It's the way this ghost town of a forum operates that keeps
you guys out of the loop. Now, when the very important news of
a factory clearout gets to you, guess what.
It gets modded and locked.

I aviod PH like the plague, it's enough to turn me off cars now,
which is very sad, as for a while it was a great place to be. Now
it's just a bit of a joke, and it's you guys losing out bigtime.

I'm sorry Teigan, that you are your normal cynical self but I was genuinely trying to pass on info that you guys had not been privvy to.

The fact that many bemoan lack of parts and then when virtually every part on an Esprit is sold, genuine and at cost and still people find reason to moan is rather sad actually.

I was gone!, it's only someone telling me of this that brings me back
for what will be my second post in a year (and my last, as i don't want
to artificially boost your 'activity' here), ironic as had you not offered
me this great honour then i'd have innocently done what you wished.

It's a real honour that you consider me fit for some kind of royalty
status on this albeit empty stage. I gladly accept this tiara but modestly
reqest i be known as a mere princess rather than a queen.

I say this because there can be many princesses but only the one Queen
of the realm, and although your granting me this title is truely humbling,
i feel i cannot take it with the knowledge a far more dramatic queen (namely
yourself) is currently both sat on said throne and providing the drama and
childlike performances that i would sadly need years at stage school to come
even remotely close to achieving.

Here is a cast-in-stone example of queenish drama that is both so humourous
and playground in it's delivery, that those of us that sit in the crowds and
laugh at your empty stage, have indeed been laughing at both it and yourself
(although i appreciate it must be an act, as no-ones really like that) for
our amusement. I'm a big fan of panto, and to see it done well with a Lotus
theme provided us with hours of fun and entertainment. Our links to your posts
are very popular with our members, you have no idea how much we laughed at this.
Thank You very, very much.

So please, carry on EXCACTLY as you were, change not, we love it and
look forward to posting links to your next collection of posts. If ever
you do decide to shut up then please DO consider me for the crown, but
please consider i need to develop some life skills akin to yourself
before i dare adorn such a treasure.

And with this doubling of my yearly postcount, i bid you goodnight my
Lady and goodbye, (stepping back timidly and curtseying politely).

Im not saying i agree with this specific mod decision.
however i think all you guys are giving them a pretty hard time

everyone is very quick to complain when something is done they dont like, but i never see anyone thanking the mods for removing unsuitable items from the forums. its a hard job to do and i think they should be thanked for the work they do a little more, rather than people sticking the knife in when they make a dubious decision.

come on guys whats the problem? the topic was no deleted, but just locked, so people could still find out about the sale. and if you want to complain about emails not being answered etc. then you can always start a new topic (alot like this one).

ok rant over, i just think the mods deserve a little more respect, rather than people getting annoyed over little things

they have to look at those little things when they tinkle, so cut them some slack as well.

as for me, i think this ghost town is a lot classier without the tumbleweeds trying to sell or promote something.

Tiegan mate long time no hear!

You will be pleased to know at present on LEF we are discussing your theorys on aerodynamics and how you are applying them to your fabulous handbag designs.

Saddened though that you and a few of the others on here are upset about the recient Lotus parts sale, and the fact it was held in the UK and not Iraq or somewheres more convenient for you Americans to visit.

Anyways mate, keep visiting your psychiatrist (I hear you and Jimmy share the same one) and stay on the meds!

your internet friend, WayneB
