kato's smoking a little
Discussion
Need some advice.
After fitting my sports exhaust and cat pipe, I've obviously been checking out the exhaust pipe a little more than usual. I've notice just after starting it up (usual about 60 secs) it starts to blow a little smoke out.
This stops after a few minutes. If I put my hand up to the exhaust I get petrol/water and bits of black sh*t on my hand. Phil followed me on a short run and said there was some smoke coming out on hard accelerating gearchanges.
Anybody like to take a guess on what the possible problem might be. Going to have the plugs out next weekend and have a look. But until then would like to hear more mechanically minded peoples opinions.

Sounds pretty normal to me..
Right after startup the exhaust system is cold and the water vapour (fuel combustion produces lots of water too) condenses inside the pipes.
This dissolves/releases some of the gunk inside and spits it out.
When you live in a cold(er) climate then it's very normal to see this every morning.
Should go away in a few minutes as the whole exhaust system warms up and the water remains in a gaseous state.
The puffs of smoke on upshifts are normal on turbo's too as long as it's black smoke and not blue or white.
Bye, Arno.
