What do you think of this guys prices? I mean the prices of Ferraris and Esprits are way below value, how do you think he gets away with such low prices?

Some of that adv. is outdated. That red 87 esprit was sold to my friend Tom in New Orleans appr. 2yrs. ago, and I'm sure it is no longer for sale.

Some plaes are very slow to take off old ads or they will appear to be not all that busy. After all who would list cars with a place if they only had a few listings. It is in their best interests to appear very busy with many ads. The prices are not all that inexpensive and are in line for the most part.

KBB is a joke when it comes to finding the proper price to pay for a car. Seriously, every car I have sold has not been anywhere close to the KBB value, in fact just about every car I have sold took months to get rid of and I had to let them go for thousands below KBB value. Around here it seems no one wants a used car unless its ridiculously low priced. I just let go of my 2004 Nissan 350 Z with 9,000 miles on it and a original factory warranty, FULLY LOADED, top model for $22,000. It took 3.5 months to sell and if it didnt say 2004 when u ran the VIN and 9K on the clock you could have put it on a dealers show room floor and sold it for an 07 it was so MINT.

No one adheres truly to the KBB value, especially when finding an Esprit. Personally, I think the prices of Esprits have been climbing. You got guys asking 24K for 88 Esprits. And $35-38K for S4's

So Calvin, long time no post here on my part, have you replaced uour Esprit yet?

I really don't know many who use KBB unless it is for the everyday run of the mill cars. Most collector and exotic car people use CPI (cars of particular interest). I really don't think Esprit prices are really climbing, but they are pretty stable. After all the price of an Esprit can not really go too low compared to a daily driver price. 24K for an 88? As far as I am concerned that is SE/S4 money, but thats me.
35-38K for S4s? 35K maybe but that would be for a real nice one.

Anyone can ask for any price one desires and there is nothing wrong with that. It is another thing to sell it for a higher than normal asking price. If you can the more power to you. There are creative ways to lower a buying price without the seller taking a dive on the price that many of us use and in that way both seller and buyer come out well.

Esprit owners tend to be a bit more attached to their cars than owners of other cars so there is an emotional issue to deal with some. Some feel insulted by what they feel is a low ball offer, while others detached from such emotional ties may consider it a fair deal.

I would say I sold my car on the higher than average side. But the car is 15 minutes from my home and I still work on the Esprit as my time allows. Many other club members that are pretty well known on the various lists also work on the car. All that work/labor is free, access to a garage with a lifts, and tools. All that is required of the current owner is to pay for parts, $12/year annual club dues, and be a faithful custodian of the car (oh yeah, feed us for a days work).

Originally I had sold my 90 SE to aquire a S4s or V8. While in search mode the company I worked for experienced financial difficulties and the company was sold to other interests. After the company take over process was complete the fit for me was not quite right and questionable practices were taking place. I had to spend some time unemployed. It took a while to find a new job that I would be happy at and have depleted all of my discretionary funds. Oh I probably could get a car now but that would be a stretch and would stress the finances a bit. So I am in a holding pattern for now unless a deal of a life time just happened to fall into my lap.

How about you? I thought for sure you would have found a car by now.

Now that I have made up for not posting a lot recently and I have made up for it all at once. I am switching back to lurk mode as all of you have been doing such a great job that people like Jim and I can spend our time just reading.
