Service Manuals & Parts Lists PDF's

Has anyone put their service manuals in a Adobe PDF File?

I'm in the process of scanning my 88-93 Esprit Service Manuals (it's quite time consuming!). Has anyone done this with the later manuals or parts lists?

Don't know of anybody who's done the whole manual. A few have scan in useful pages for people. I nearly bought the manuals myself at Donington.

Would love to host your pdfs on Lotus Esprit World. Would be very useful to all Esprit owners to have all that in one place. Or do you have plans to set up your own site.

Hi Kato,

Please be very careful with this. Many people have suggested this to me in the past but I refuse to host PDF versions of Lotus service or parts manuals. This material is copyrighted and publishing it without their permission would not only cut into their profits but would be a violation of international copyright laws. The consequences of this are that you might be sued for the violation and/or you might have your web site shut down.

Your site is too valuable for us to lose. You have plenty of helpful information without this. Although it would be convenient to have all the manuals in one place, I don't think it's worth the risk.

Also, I have had PDF versions of many Lotus manuals for years and I can tell you the files themselves are HUGE. The 1988-1992MY Service Manual alone is about 50MB!

The reason's I'm doing this is not to circumvent copyright laws etc. But it allows me to quickly text search throughout the manual, print out just pages I require for reference whilst I'm working etc.

Kato, for you to host these you would need permission from Lotus of this I'm sure. They may allow you to host them so they can be viewed online but not downloaded, there can be no harm in asking.

I will have my own site at a later date, but it will only really feature my project. I'll link general queiries etc across to you.

Sound like someone talking sense. I would love to have a look at the file and see how feasiable it would be. Then if it's possible I could asked my contact at lotus to put me intouch with someone who could help with the legal side of it.

Kato,

Rather than hosting any PDF's why don't you just hold the PDF version of the entire manual at your base and drag up and display the ones people ask for, similar to what you are already doing. I doubt that anyone would give permission for you to have the entire manual availible to be viewed by visitors of your site.
First see if you can get hold of the manuals on PDF format first.
I have an idea to help. Will e-mail you.

I too would like to see pdf versions of the manuals. If for no other reason than being able to print out a page to take out to the shop and get all greasy. I bought manuals and they are getting more and more dirty.
BTW, anybody got a pdf of the Owners Manual for 91SE? Or any of the Service Supplements?
