Hi all,

I've just bought my first Lotus - a 1998 GT3 in black. Now I'm looking for those wheels that come on the S4s - are they Oz Futuras? I bet they cost a fortune, but does anyone know where I can get them from?

Many thanks,
Doors.

Yes, they are OZ Futura. The lotus contract with OZ means that the only supply of OZ wheels in esprit sizes is via lotus, ie you won't be able to buy futuras or anyother oz esprit wheel design from an oz supplier. Best bet is to find some second hand.

Try:
www.ntccars.com/ntcframe.htm
www.thelotuscentre.fsnet.co.uk/
www.sjsportscars.co.uk/

There are also usually people selling them at donnington show and the stoneleigh show.

cheers
Rob

I remember seeing these in a magazine back in the late eighties (an Elite catalogue or Demon Tweaks or something) - you could also get them in 1 piece I think? which would be much cheaper - but you don't reckon they would come in Lotus fittment?

..they have a special offer, but I think these may be the Saturns and not the Futaras?

Special Offer on V8 O.Z. Alloy Wheels, complete with Dunlop Sport Tyres

Usually £4000 + VAT Now only £3000 + VAT

But that's still serious money! Does anyone know of any other wheels that can be fitted in the same size that look good?

SJS will do a set, I've been quoted £3900 + VAT for a set of these 3 piece split rims.

Buying second hand alloys is not always a good idea.

When you come across some new ones, can I have first shout on your old wheels if I haven't sold the car. Not looking to sell but someone has shown an interest. If I sell, Iam looking at a silver 96N S4s 49K with the alloys you're looking for, for £16,995 in Manchester.

I put a set of HRE 345's on my 88, the wheels look very similar to the s4s wheels, minus the center cap, I got mine in 17x8.5 in the front (215/45 17) and 17x10 in the rear (275/40 17) with yokahama 520's there is a huge lip in the rear wheels, I believe deeper than the s4s, looks real mean. I purchased them for 2,850 u.s w/ rubber at F1 motorsports in N. Hollywood, Ca. When my car is back together I will post pics.

Cheers,

I would like to point out a new source for Lotus Esprit aftermarket wheels.

CertifiedWheels.com

In my frustration to find a variety of aftermarket wheels for the Esprit I came across Ronal wheels, an international manufacturer of both OEM and aftermarket wheels.

I started CertifiedWheels.com so other Esprit owners can get the wheels easily and at a lower cost. See the photo below.

I will mention the site this time as it is relevant to the topic and is not known to any other members but won't again with respect to the posting rules.

PS There is a fun web pole there to see if we have any highly qualified speedometer testers in the group : )

I may have stumbled across a possible source for 350sport type alloys on
www.larkspeed.com/pages/productpages/alloy_oz1.html
They may probably say that they can't make them for the esprit. I don't see why they can't as they already know the PCD and offsets.
May be worth a try.

Cheers,

Thanks Dave and Dan - I'll check out both sites.
While I'm back on the subject of aftermarket wheels - maybe you can help answer the below:
... a garage mechanic friend of mine measured the offset on my wheels and his OZ wheels on his Mitsubishi GT3000 - and tells me they are the same - so, does that means you can fit any wheel that fits on a Mitsubishi on the Lotus??SuperDave sent me a mail from Compomotive that says the offsets are:
Fronts 7x17 5x108 PCD +23.3mm Offset -
Rears 8.5x17 5x108 PCD +30mm Offset
Is the offset the same regardless of wheel size - i.e. still the above if you go for 8.5*17 and 10*18?
Thanks all,
Doors.
(p.s. how do I add a picture? I've got a cut and paste of my GT3 with my friends white OZ wheels on it from his Mitsubishi)

Register for one of the free picture sites (e.g. webshots) and load your photo up there. Then post a message on here with [ pic ] before the picture url and [ / pic ] after the url, but without any of the spaces. To find out what the picture url is, right click on the image in webshots and click properties.

Hi Rob

What tyres do you have on your car?
I like the thread pattern.

They're Bridgestone S-02.
Unfortunately, they don't make these any more, and the S-03 replacements don't look anywhere near as good and have not had particularly good write ups..

Also, those are 295's on the rear, like a sport 350, rather than 285's. They fit the standard rim no problem.

Cheers
Rob
