What the hell does this bolt adjust?

On the ends of my doors (not the jam)about 2 inches down from the window and 6 inches above the door latch is a 8mm bolt. can anyone tell me what this bolt tightens / adjusts?

Again, this bolt is on the end (opening) part of both doors (2000 MY). It doesnt seem like it tightens, so I was thinking that maybe it adjusts something????
