Can anyone offer the GM part No. for the ECU on a '91 SE.

88999175 remanufactured ECM is a drop in replacement for the stock
unit. I bought mine from GM PartsDirect for $78 + $90 core.
The original P/N of 1228708 is now unavailable from GM and 88999175
is the replacement."

Question: Which controls the alternator charging rate/voltage...a voltage regulator in the alternator, or the ECU?
