I have recently updated my 95 Esprit S4 with great effect, so I thought I would share the details.

The first mod was a front 4 pot AP racing conversion and sports exhaust system from SJ Sports Cars in Devon. The brakes have made a massive difference to the car, and you can now drive it with confidence.
The exhaust did sound much nicer than the previous 'one off' exhaust I had built, which fell apart after 1 year!
I also had SJ fit adjustable rear shocks which have stiffened up the rear and noticeably improved the handling.

Very recently I have also added:-
1. Cat replacement pipe @£145, and K&N panel filter (from www.cars-gb.com)
2. BOV and 310bhp chip @565 euros from Marcus (E-Mail freudhoefer@t-online.de)

This has made a massive difference! The car is smoother, more responsive and obviously has a fair amount more torque and top end power. So far it's not caused any strange problems......

Taking apart the memcal in the ECU to fit the new chip was a bit worrying, but it's really quite quick and simple when you get into it.

The only downside (if you can call it that!) is the flames that shoot out of the exhaust when you lift off!
The exhaust note is great with V8 style burbles and pops on lift off.

MPG is still good. A 400mile run to Wales and back returned 23mpg.

Also the insurance company did not charge a penny extra for all the mods!

Have fun!

Wow!

Excellent job jackettc!

I have a 94 S4 that I plan on moding quite a bit. It is nice to see someone with so much work done!

A couple questions?

What would you say was your best performance based mod. The brakes maybe, or maybe the new chip?

I am thinking about also doing the adjustable shocks like you have done and was wondering how much of a difference they made on the cars. I figured it would be substantial but I havnt spent much time in cars that were set up to handle instead of drag race.

Thanks for the post!
