Comments or suggestions are welcome!

I'm thinking about pro's and con's of removing the Esprit's door handles completely and replacing them with a small button on bottom of wing mirror as per TVR's. So we will then have an electrically operated door system.

The system must have a backup in case battery goes flat. Two options here, a hidden mechanical system such as in a Cerbie or have a power connector so power can be restored via a battery jump pack.

I'll source things like a ECU and attuators etc (i'll get info from TVR People). The TVR uses a ECU purely for the doors.

The Chimera uses Citroen wing mirrors, so this part should be no problem. But then again why not replace the wing mirrors with something a little more stylish.

Hi,

This is quite common amongst 'Hot Rodders' and Customizers. There are many off the shelf solenoid kits and receiver/transmitters you can use. Happy Motoring! Jim '85TE

Why not just get a AutoLoc Shaved Door Handle kit? Seems at lot simplier than sourcing TVR parts.

I am thinking of doing something similar on my S3. I would probably make my own controller and use standard central locking motors.

Also I am in the process of changing the door mirrors to Audi 80 units as the original mirrors are in a real state and replacements are hard to get hold of. I'll post pictures when I have finished machining the required adaptor plates.

It's nice to see that many owners have the same ideas - let me know how you get on with the remote door opening - I'd definately like to do that - and was looking and something like an M3 style mirror with built in indicator (now around £100) - but don't know if you can get them to fit.
