Sold my house the other day, and am all moved into the new apartment. Next winter the Lotus will be garaged, but once I put her back on the road, my Esprit will be parked in the lot right outside the front door.
So, I need to buy a good car cover to protect my baby.
Any recommendations?

Hi Mike,
I note you are in the US but I bought a very good cover for my V8 from Specialised Car covers (Search the web but let me know if no joy...) last October for £200-00 I think. They needed to know the exact model and spoiler combination, etc to make a perfectly fitting cover. There are also a number of US companies but the one I have is 'allegedly' breathable and has four retaining straps.
She always goes under it clean to avoid as many scrathes as possible and so far I have not noticed any increase in scratching.
Hope this helps,
Kind regards,
Edward

You did not say what year or type Lotus you have nor where you live. I got my cover for my '89 non-SE from California Car Cover Co. The grey material one about $160. Living here in Lousiana you need a cover with great UV protection. Also mine drys fast. My carnival red paint is as good as new.
I have my X180R spoiler on the back lip so it sticks back about 4 extra inches. I need to give the cover a little tug to get it over the wing as it was intended for the 1993 but it stays on without any fasteners. The mirror pockets fit right too. My $80 tan one I got from PEP Boys kept blowing off as it was not designed for the lotus.
One thing. These newer materials WILL NOT take strong solvents like PineSol to get off grease. They will disintegrate.
Hope this helps.

Another source that I have found that looks comparable to the California Car Covers is at

I have ordered one for my V8 but it has not arrived
yet so I cannot give you a testimonial but the quality
and warranty seem the same. The autoanything covers
are available in more specialized fabrics and in more colors which is what swayed me. Good luck!
