i have a 2000 v8,with a factory installed or dealer installed cobra alarm, cobra system 510003-a6422.It works with my remote locks.Does this alarm work on motion, because mine does not.I looked at a 2002 v8 and that alarm went off on motion, when i touched the car. THANKS BUDDYR TOMS RIVER N.J.

Try this: leave the roof panel lifted up in the rear, then lock the car with the electronic key. After the alarm is set, from outside of the car, push in the latches and let the roof panel close. If everything is working, the alarm should go off.

The motion detector is in the passenger compartment map pocket and senses disturbances in the interior compartment.

If your car has a motion detector, some have a sensitivity adjustment at the control unit end. The PO may have had problems in the past with the alarm going off all the time especially if they were parked in a busy street with vehicles passing closely and turned it down. Try to find out first if your car has motion detector, then try to locate the unit or ring Cobra to see if there is an adjustment for the sensitivity level.

Check the senisitivity level on your alarm first and make sure you have this facility. Some alarms even if the same make, models vary slightly and some have this feature. Mine is like yours with interior motion detectors but it doesn't go off if I bump into the car. I haven't checked if mine has a motion detector yet as I haven't been able to locate the alarm unit. The siren is easy to find. According to an alarm expert, CAT1 alarms always have a seperate control unit bolted to the body inside the car with anti-vandal screws. They aren't like cheaper alarms with the whole unit contained in the siren.
You need to locate the unit first. Some alarms also have this feature as an optional extra which is a seperate unit though I haven't seen one for a while.

Hey Buddy,

My 2000 V8 is stock on the alarm (factory installed Cobra) and does not appear to have a traditional motion sensor, hence with the alarm set pushing and/or touching the car does nothing.

You may want to talk to one of the guys at LCU to make sure your alarm is functioning properly. Give them a call at 800-245-6887. Hope this helps.
