Pics from Club Lotus NZ Taupo Sprint Meeting
Discussion
Hi all, had a fun weekend on the track for the first time, yes pretty nervous about everything, but once got going and found my lines, there was no looking back. Yeee Haaaa!!!!
We drove down with another Esprit owner early Sat, was neat two of us on the road together, turns a few heads that is for sure. Sat night we met up with other Club Lotus people for a bbq dinner at someones holiday home or batch as we call it, just out of Taupo. I couldn't help but take a pic of my car as the sun was setting and light was low. Its the only time I can take a decent pic of my car without light reflecting everywhere. Well here's a pic of my new shiny wheels that took a few weeks to polish.

My friend Deans blue mint SE parked up infront of me at the bbq night before racing.

The big day!! Not a big turn out but there was enough variety of classics to keep everyone entertained. A few Elises ready to leave the pitts for the track. They stole the show with good times on a small track, was better suited for them.

Pic of me and some of the group I was in, ready to go out on the track.

Me going through some twisty bits and out on to the straight. Was really pleased with my times as being new to the sport. My times fell somewhere in the middle of everyone, so certainly wasn't last!!

Bit hard to see this one, but Dean lost it big time and caught in the act. Spun right around on the track. We gave him heaps of fun about it. Some worn patches on the tires.

We were set up in groups of 5 and put in order of times, so there was no passing at all. Had such a blast. It really was worthwile as now I get a btter understanding of how the car handles etc. Am considering getting some proper track lessons now. But promised myself never to fully race the esprit, just for fun events like these is a must.
See ya,
Kylie

Pelo, you got some great pics. Many thanks. Am hoping to go to the next meet in Nov, so will catch up with ya. Oh I had trouble opening the images in the other meet. Dunno what's going on there. I am particulary interested in the Saker. I wouldnn't mind buying a finished turn key loaded with a lexus v8 for events like this, or similar rather than using my esprit. What was your opinion on them. Can you remember some of the specs on that one? I have only read about their staggering performance in articles but never seen one in real life.

Kylie
