Iwould like to take my battary out of my v8,to clean.If i disconnect the battary,will i screw up the car computer.thanks!BuddyR from Toms River N.J.

No problem to do that... kinda like replacing the battery when it goes dead (usually 5 years). If your V8 has the newer alarm system, expect the alarm to start howling when you remove the battery... it will go for several minutes.

It's possible to have the ECM reset itself which is not an issue, the ECM will build a new map as you drive around.

It will probably just reset the ECU. The trick is just to go for a good drive afterwards so that the ecu has a chance to "relearn" the engine characteristics.

If the check engine light comes on don’t worry. It will go off after a few drives.
