'88 Esprit turbo petrol tank replacement
Discussion
Hi,
I would be interested to hear of anyone with experience of replacing the right hand side petrol tank on a 1988 Esprit turbo. Will be trying to source the parts ASAP.
Does fuel tank replacement require entire engine removal?! any handy hints or procedures to be followed gratefully accepted!
Cheers,
Lloyd.(Essex, UK)

No you do not have to remove the engine. When you say the right side I'm assuming that you mean the drivers side if you live in the UK. Passenger if you line in the U.S. I had to replace the same tank in my 90 SE and it was definitely a big job but not as bad as you think. The only thing I had to remove from the engine was the intake plenum cover to allow clearence for the tank as it was being manuvered out of the opening. Took the tank to a tin shop and had a new one fashioned based on the old design. Epoxy painted it and reinstalled it. Cost was next to nothing. Good luck.
