My "CarChip" just arrived today and here are my thoughts on it:

I love the simplicity of it all. It's a small chip that you connect to the
port underneath your glove box. It can record up to 3hours of info. Once
you're done driving, you simply plug it in to a serial port attachment on your
computer and the program walks you through what parameters you would like to
view. It puts it in different graphs and gives you LOTS of information. It
did give me a trouble code "P1901 - Unknown Powertrain DTC (Manufacturer
Controlled; Transmission)" Don't have a CLUE what that means but if anyone
knows a bit more what P1901 means, please let me know.

I'm still getting used to the program so this will take me awhile but it will
only get better.

BTW- It cost me $140 bucks

Thanks Ernest.

I guess best thing to do is see how Ed gets on with it and ask him in a month or so whether he thinks its worth the money. Hey Ed - if i don't remember to ask, can you post up when you've had time to consider?

cheers
Rob

I will. I will be contacting the company regarding the association of the trouble codes. I recieved a P1901 code yet Lotus cars does not have that code. Give me a few weeks while I figure out this new tool. I will post back my thoughts.

Ed - it would be funny if the code came back:

"Your car is a Lotus"
