Well if you post this in the Ferrari forum you know what they are going to say
In saying that though theres a few guys here who have owned both so be interesting to hear any non biased opinions.

Ok, so never been in a 355, but I have been in a 360 on the track, as well as my Esprit SE, and an Esprit X180-R.

The Ferrari 360 F1 was smoother, easier to drive, well planted, well damped, didn't lose composure when a wheel was dropped off track, and the balance was very good (even with the 215mm front tires). It made a mediocre driver very good.

My fairly stock Esprit SE (though I run stiffer suspension and different alignment settings) is loose, squiggly, flat through the corners, horrible under breaking. The X180-R is stiff, noisy, jumps around with the slightest pavement change, brakes better than anything...

Which one handles better?

I don't know, the Ferrari is easier to go fast, the X180-R is faster, the SE can't go fast cause it can't stop. I doubt the 355 is as good as the 360 F1...

I owned a 350 sport and 355 gts at the same time. The lotus was defo the best car, although iaccept it was built for this purpose being the 350 sport. In fact i did love the ferrari, noise etc, but it always felt like it was going to fall to pieces and had only done 1k, plus talk about which one handles the better, well my 355 ended up in a tree.lol I laugh now, but wasnt at the time..

Owned a bunch of Esprits and when I purchased y V8 I looked at the 355 as well and did a couple of back to bck tests. Also had a couple of mates with 355's that I used to borrow every so often. Fez - some prefer the interior, sound is better unless you mod the Esprit and it is a very, very pretty car.

Esprit - faster, more fun, better handling, seemed to be more reliable than the Fez. Much prefered the Esprit, hence I bought the Esprit!

Having driven them back to back on track I prefered the 355 simply becauseI could get in it without having to crank my head over to one side with a skid lid on. Both impressive cars but I reckon the 355 would be a little more forgiving of the occassional driver error.

I had a drive in a 355 at Thruxton a few years ago, ok i had the instructor telling me to change up at 4,500 revs so i dont think i really had the feel for the car but I definately felt I enjoyed the drive down to Thruxton & back in the Esprit alot more than the 355 on the track.

The power delivery in the 355 is smoother, it felt even all the way up the rev range, it cornered well & stuck to the damp track even on fast (120mph) sweeping bends. The Esprit however feels faster as you have the kick in your back when the turbo cuts in, it feels it projects you forwards instead of gliding forwards if that makes sence. & then the cost, 18k gets you a good S4 or GT3, 355's around 35k?

I'd think the 355 is more forgiving if your chucking it about around the bends as the smoother power is more predictable compared to the boost of the Esprit turbo, you really have to watch an Esprit it on wet roundabouts as it WILL bite you if your not used to it.

Esprit for me everyday of the week... (but i wouldnt like to drive it everyday though!)

Oh & i also had a scoot in a 348, forget that, alot slower, rattly, difficult to drive & didnt enjoy it at all, however I do think it was just that perticular car that was a dog

Owned 355 and S4s at the same time. The S4s destroys the 355 in every aspect, but you need skill to drive the S4s while the 355 can be driven by anyone. I love slamming the 355 gearchange though

When i had the 350 sport, i use to expect it to do various things.. I almost found myself in the 355 at bit at ease, hence i think it caught me out, while the 350 i did some crazy stuff in, especiallty when i was living in Belguim and Maastrict, but was always aware.. tough one, i still prefered the 350 sport to the 355, but agree, you could not beat the noise of the 355 or the gear change..
