what is the best rim sizes and tyres to use for esprit S2

Hi i own a lotus esprit 1980 S2 and think those wheels look so dated now, what with tyres getting harder to get hold of now i was thinking about getting a new set of rims. The thing is, what is the best tyre size to use? I would like to keep the same tyre width on front (195/60/14) and rear(205/70/14) as well as rim width, but going up in rim diam and down on tyre profile has me worried... Would going down on tyre profile put more of a pounding on those uj`s as our british road`s are not the smoothest surface around, where as the original tyre has a nice cushion effect.

you have to change your whole setup if you want a different width or height of your tyre/wheel combo. can be done successfully though, if you do your research. as for lower profile tyres, it isn't just the bumpier ride that is at stake. you are more likely to bend a rim, from scraping the curb parking. or have a rim bent by a parking valet who went over a speedbunp too fast. this actually happened to someone's AMG merc last weekend. not sure if he can get the restaurant to pay for the damage, becuase he didn't notice until the next day.
