These are the pics of my mates Esprit, he just sent them over, it looks a peach. Just in the process of getting the cats changed at he broke the old ones by going for the land speed record.....

He knows they're going on here and appreciates the helpful advice he got before he bought it. He's liking it alot from what he's told me.

I have told him to join, he's found most of the stuff on here useful as well as Lotus Esprit World. Also, he's on the looks out for some CATS as he's melted his, the high speed run has f**ked them up.

Reassure him that it was probably not the high speed run. The factory cats just don't seem to last. Marcus at PUK can probably sort some new ones for him. The benefit of stainless (and I have a stainless Tubi as well) is that they don't rust.

I just wish I could find stainless turbos as well, then I would be sorted all the way to the engine.

Listen to you guys, for your information, i think yours are on the wrong side and who needs airbags!!! Not scared are you? laugh

He's getting the stainless system that you recommended, i did say go for the Tubi but he ignored me. The guy said as a quick fix, get the garage to cut them open and take everything out, making it a straight through. To be honest, i'd never of this, usually we just buy Cat replacement Pipes but do they do them for the Esprit?

With your Tubi System, whats the difference in sound then Ernest? thumbup

Try speaking with Mick at Torque Tehniques in Salisbury (Wilton) He's been making pipes, including cat reps and hi-flow cats, for the V8 Esprit since it first appeared.
I used his straight through cat pipes and exhaust on my old V8GT. It was a good thing. thumbup

IIRC the Tubi was about $1700 US. Probably a bit less expensive in the UK as they don't have so far to travel.

My car is a 4 pot with a 3 inch Tubi and the sound is great over the stock pipe. I can only assume (not always good to do) that the V8's would also sound better. Now instead of a "sewing machine"... it sounds like an "F1 sewing machine" according a Ferrari driving friend who is clearly bitten by the green monster!

as for exhausts mine is a gt3 with a cat and no other boxes and centre exit, basically 3" pipe from cat bent twice and its loud but sounds fine and cost errrrr £100 LOL. its also hygene grade st/st which is better than normal grade stuff. exhaust making is overated, in theory if its a turbo the gas needs to escape as quick as possible.

btw nice red v8, love the cream leather

I think it for the benefit of hearing the exhaust sunshine.

Car sounds great Ernest, but mine wasn't as loud when added the Tubi. I also had Hyperflows as well. It seemed like the orginal exhaust was louder at idle and even when I reved it. Maybe it was me. Anyways the car looks great.

Sounds like a no-brainer to me. especially if you want to save a few notes. Saves on the pain in the ass setting up of a new pipe which is bound to need a little fettling. I have a straight through that was supposed to fit straight on but I think the designer was on something as it was an inch too long and needed a section cutting out and re-welding. Still, only me a fiver to do it though :-)
