Hi we got the wheel rims all polished and just waiting for the bolts to be completed to put back in. I got new lotus centre caps made up with alloy surrounds. We got some drawings made up on Auto CAD and gave to a firm to program it into their machine to cut out of a solid alloy block. The finishing shiny touches done at home Am getting there.

I can see you've been busy. Looks the biz. Where did you get the Lotus Badges from and are they 50-52mm diameter? Iam trying to find some here in the UK without sucess. Whilst sending this e-mail, Iam in the middle of painting my wheels. Took your point on board about expressing yourself, so didn't go with the lemmings, decided to paint them anthracite/dark silver. Also hand painted a caliper today to see if OK. It's a bugger to hand paint every bit of the caliper isn't it?
Well, you must be proud of your new wheels , I may put a pic of mine when they're finished if they don't turn out to be a disaster.

Cheers for now,

Dave Walters

Hi there, am glad you did what you liked with your wheels, big decision ay! But sounds like a nice colour and yes looking forward to seeing some progress pics from ya soon . The brake calipers are a little tricky to paint. There was a site somewhere where a guy just masked to whole thing off and spray painted it. But I cant see how he could have got around all those hiddden corners with the can? Oh well. The badges are off an Elise which are 55mm in diameter. I bought through this site in the parts for sale section. His name is Dave Cooling, email: DNCooling@aol.com

I am not sure if it was a one off sale or he had a few to get rid off.

Best of luck,
Kylie

Dave, I believe SJ Sportscars stock the wheel badges.
Cheers, Jez, U.K.

Cheers Jez, i've already tried SJ first but unfortunately he has either aftermarket 59mm diameter or he can sell me centre caps off a V8 or Elise. He said that he doesn't know if they're what Iam looking for, I would have to take a chance. Iam not sure whether the elise centre caps are right.

Kylie, finally finished my wheels this morning, should have been working! I was even fitting the last two wheels with my shirt & tie on! Pics on my thread below yours. I painted them in my office of all places!
I used to be a workaholic until I bought my Esprit. Now I don't have the will to work, just play. I should be working now, have to go.
I've found genuine Lotus centre badges from a place only a mile away. He is ordering them in from Lotus tommorrow for £3/each, not bad hey.

Cheers,

Dave Walters
