Now I can finally start doing the fun little things on my esprit! I want to replace the lights in the window lighters. How do I get them out...before I damage the leather?

Ian,

I don't believe that yours are very different than those on my car in which case, you acess them from behind by removing the door panel. Hope this helps. Happy Motoring! Jim'85TE

When removing your door panel, undo the screw around the perimeter of the door panel (3/4 in total). Loosen the screws on the black door hamdle, don't take them out. Ease the two piece trim around the handle making sure that you don't snap them. You may have to loosen the screws a bit more to get them out. Push the handle through the door panel or vise versa. The door should now be free, but make sure that you unplug the wires wires first.
The light for the lighter is a simple plug in one. Just simply pull it out and replace.
A tip, the door panel is sometimes tricky sliding between the glass and the door frame. If you can, try to ease the door panel but don't lift out and reach behind for the light. Seeing as your only changing a bulb, it's a bit of a pain putting the panel back on.
Hope this helps.

Cheers,

Dave Walters

I have a 1987 TurboHC.

The side/headlamp switch on the dash is permanently backlit, even when the lights are off.

All the other switched are only lit up when the lights are on.

Is this normal?

Pat.

Pat,

this is not normal. You may have a short. Carefully remove the binnacle mask and check the harness plug going into the switch. If you can't find anything, let me know and I'll try to assist you further. Happy Motoring! Jim'85TE
