Hi all,
Wondered whether anyone, in the UK (Southeast particularly) knows of a 'passive' imobiliser that cuts the circuit in two places and is Thatcham approved?
Insurance company are getting arsey that I do not have one!
Happy for any recommendations,
Kind regards,

Try Sigma or Laserline. What Category does your insurance require. I have both Cat 1 and 2 Sigma alarm with an additional Laserline immobiliser. Both came with the car so I will leave as they are.
Also try Motorworld if there is one near you. They have a brochure and there are various different immobilisers there. Microscan do an immobiliser for £65 (supply ony), which is 2 circuit but I don't know what Microscan are like. Clifford which I think are a quality make, do an insurance approved immobiliser for £190 fitted. They also do an entry level Cat 1 alarm for £399 fully fitted. Laserline do a Cat 2 immobiliser for £130 fully fitted and a Cat 1 alarm for £280 fully fitted. Make sure you get a certificate if you get someone else to fit it. Also I think Cat 1 devices have to be bolted inside the car and not in the engine bay, using anti-vandal fixings (one way).

Try here:-

They will come to you and fit anywhere in southeast, also helpful on the phone.

Go for the type with the fob that sits on your key ring and deactivates the imb. as soon as it get close enough. Otherwise it's a hassle putting your knob on the car everytime you want to drive it (if you know what I mean)!

I have problems when I put my knob in certain places too. My dealer recommended a Cobra for it.

I didn't have one on my 97 GT3.

I had a laserline 291 fitted. Just press the fob and it opens the door locks and imobilliser etc plus you can just activate the imobilliser without locking the car, blah blah blah. Look to spend £300 or less to fit most cat1 alarms.

Most of the Cat 1s are similar. You can also get pagers and phone chips added now for £100-£300 plus!

I like the idea of getting a text if my alarm goes off.
