There is a thread already on Stebro exhausts:

Also, check out kato's excellent lotusespritworld.com site - hes' just fitted a sports exhaust and de-cat pipe to his SE.

Rob's right. I've just put a new exhaust on my 92SE. Will fit your 90 no problem. I'm more than happy with it. You can read my verdict on the page.

As for a chip, you don't need an upgraded turbo. The stock turbo will produce a lot more boost. You can get an S4 or S4s chip from moto concept, or have one designed around your requirements. Though they're not cheap!

Silver12r,
I had a Stebro single exhaust on my 89 unitll the mounting tabs sheared off. Recieved a second set from Stebro and experienced the same problem. Great care was taken in the installation to ensure no undue stresses were placed on the new or existing components. This may or may not happen to you, just be aware of the possibility. The Stebro can is much lighter than the stock unit, and is, with the exception of the flimsy mounting tabs, well made, sounds great, and does add a bit of giddy-up to the ride. Suggest you also install a K&N filter at the intake end. You will not get the full effect unless you free up the air flow on the intake as well as the out. I installed an upgraded chip and the combination really made a noticeable difference. Note, you will need new stainless steel hardware for mounting the can. Stebro does not provide any and the stock blts will not work on the Stebro unit. Good luck.

Go for the SJ Sportcars Stainless Steel Sports Exhaust. About £200 and fitted to my Eprit. You can have it at your door with a couple of days. Tell Steve, Lotus Esprit World sent you!

you will not cause any damage by running a straight pipe infact you will extend the life of your turbocharger and get a slight increase in boost pressures.

Yes yes a chip does help a lot to smooth out the turbo. You might miss the whack of the SE chip at 3K rpm and to some it appears that the car is slower due to that fact, but the turbo will cut in earlier depending on the chip you get.

I was going to ask you about it soon. According to people who have driven my car I have the S4s MK. V chip in it as it seems to hold the 1 bar boost. I should get the updated chip, but have been pretty lazy about it with the car under it winter covers. So maybe you can settle which update I will be getting. Have you tried the chip that Marcus has been emailing me about? Which chip do you like it? Do you think the 330 is too hard on the car? How much extra wear do you think the turbo will suffer as it cuts in earlier at around 2K? Also another reason I have been waiting for is the dual mode chip that you have been working on. Also I hear someone has been working on a switch on the fly version. Email me and let's have a chat about some of these subjects. Also do you still have the lines we talked about a month ago?
Thanks,
Calvin
