How difficult is it to replace the SE's marina handles with the S4 exterior door handles. I know these were also fitted to 93.5 esprits and sport 300. Where do these handles come from? and how difficult to fit?

Someone has asked this before, so try a search but I have recently stripped my door covers off. I would appear that the newer handles go into a more rounded hole so I suspect there a slight mod to the body. The major one is that the old handles opperate in a different direction. The old pull side ways, the new lift up thus giving a different action inside. Iam not sure whether the locking mechanism is different to accept the different handles but a consideration you must make is that the newer handles also opperate from the inside much higher than pre93 so you'll have to modify this as well or think of changing the door inners as well.
I though SJ did these handles but check in my catalogue. You may want to try their web site, it's more upto date. www.sjsportscars.co.uk

After thinking about your question, I too am very interested on fitting S4 handles to my 1990 Turbo. I think, though not sure, that S4 used a lot of GM parts which come from Vauxhall/Opel. i will make further enquiries to see if they came from a Corsa/Cavalier/Carlton. They do look similar. If they are, you can source from a scrap yard. I don't want to get your hopes up, I will make enquiries next week. If this is sucessful, I may be able to get hold of the diagrams showing the two differences and between the two of us, we could could come up with an economical solution.

I think Mark McKenzie has done this on his 88 Turbo (see owners pages) You could drop him an e-mail and see how easy it is to do.
